“Dreams come in many forms”

Evan has been diagnosed with multiple developmental disabilities, such as ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome and Anxiety Disorder. At 7 years of age, he is an extremely creative, energetic, precocious, engaging, and challenging little boy.  With the gracious help of numerous social, educational, and medical agencies . . . Evan is able to live a relatively typical life.  Without the involvement of these various programs, our family would be completely lost. Westman Dreams for Kids graciously granted Evan's wish  by providing him with a whole new computer system and internet services. Evan's computer is an incredible tool used to help him to explore socialization, to be productively entertained and to also be educationally taught in ways that are unique to him. Evan's excitement and appreciation for his gift is a contagious energy and our family is humbled to have been granted through such an amazing wish by Westman Dreams for Kids. There is no way that we would be able to provide such a gift, ourselves. Evan has promised that one day when he is older, and is 'getting rich working with computers', that he will also be helping to grant others' wishes just like his own has been granted.

Thank You Westman Dreams for Kids (and those who generously contribute to them)!

Sincerely, the Watt Family

Brody Sidoryk, a 17 year old young man from Rossburn is our newest Dream recipient.
Seriously injured in a car accident in 2008, Brody has shown courage & determination far beyond his years.  Many surgeries, physiotherapy & occupational therapy have been the results of this accident.  Brody has always participated in & loved all sports, especially hockey.  His favorite team; The Chicago Blackhawks.  His favorite player; Jonathan Toews and Brody’s Dream was to see his favorite player & team in action.
On May 8th in Vancouver, his Dream came true.  Our foundation was thrilled to be able to obtain tickets for the Chicago/Vancouver game & for Brody to see Jonathan step onto the ice!  It was a very memorable evening for Brody & his father who accompanied him

But we weren’t finished with his Dream….there was more!

When the Memorial Cup was hosted in Brandon in May, Rossburn’s biggest hockey fan was there to take in a couple of the games.  Unbeknown to Brody, another surprise was in store.  Through the efforts of Mr. Darryl Wolski, a name synonymous with hockey, Brody was presented with a framed, limited edition, autographed picture of none other than, his favorite man on skates, Jonathan Toews!.  He also got the privilege of having his picture taken with The Memorial Cup that evening.  The photos taken  speak volumes of the delight we all felt in making Brody’s dream come true & seeing a very brave young man so happy!
We are so pleased to say that Brody continues to face his challenges with unbelievable strength and optimism. He will be graduating in June with his fellow classmates and plans to pursue a career in physiotherapy.

Everyone at Westman Dreams for Kids wishes Brody the best of luck in his future endeavors; we were proud to be a part of making his Dream comes true!!
Brody is seen here posing with the official Guard Party for The Memorial Cup & receiving his special surprise gift from Darryl.

I have been sitting trying to pull the words together for a heartfelt thank you.

At the age of 13 our oldest daughter Kathryne was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia in August /08. It started out as a family trip to Winnipeg Zoo. We were barely in the city for 2 hrs. When the Dr.’s in our home town of Souris called to inform us that the routine blood work the ordered on Kathryne came back and they determined the she had a form cancer. From the moment our lives we turned upside down and we were in a whirlwind.
It had only been not even 2 months into this battle for Kathryne and West man Dreams for Kids an amazing Foundation came into our lives. They granted Kathryne’s wish to go to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fl. everything would be taken care of. We did not have to worry about anything nothing financial. We were to go and just have fun.

We left on January 17/09 for 1 week. They had mad arrangements for us to stay at another amazing Foundation Give Kids the World Village in Kissimee, Fl. They had everything the girls could ever want. They served ice-cream from 7:30a.m.-9:00 p.m. everyday, a movie theatre, Castle of Miracles which had a carousal attached, Miniature golf just to name a few. Our villa was incredible. Everyday when we would arrive back from the parks Give Kids the World Village would have gifts left at our villa for the girls.
During our 7 night 6 day stay we were able to take the kids to all 4 parks over 3 days at Disney World , 2 days at Universal Studios, 1day at Kennedy Space Centre, 1 day at Sea world, and even got to take the girls on a helicopter tour.
One of Kathryne’s dreams was to meet lord Vador and the Storm Troopers. Holly Wood Studios made that possible. It was another dream come true.
We are asked a lot what the highlight of our trip was. The trip was incredible we never thought that we would ever be able to take our kids on a trip of a lifetime. Not only because Kathryne but our youngest daughter Karter has severe multiple Food Allergies and Asthma. West man Dreams for Kids and Give Kids The world Village took every precaution to make the vacation possible.
Words cannot express how grateful we are. There are so many memories that Kathryne has just seeing Kathryne light up and have so much fun. Hearing her laugh and go on all the crazy thrill rides with her dad. This trip will help her during her recovery; she is going into Winnipeg for another bone marrow biopsy to determine whether or not she is going into remission. We are hopeful as are the Dr.’s. We have a long had journey ahead with countless appointments to Winnipeg but this trip will keep her strong and her spirits alive.

A thank you sounds so minute to what we were given. The memories, laughter, and the smiles will always be cherished.

On behalf of the Leschasin Family from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!!!

Troy was diagnosed with an eye condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa a couple of years ago when he was 10.  This condition causes gradual loss of vision due to the deterioration of the retina at the back of the eye.

Not long after we finally received the diagnosis, our local Parent Advisory Council in Miniota referred Troy to Westman Dreams for Kids.  Troy decided he would like to visit Disneyworld.  Troy's wish was granted, and our trip was made from February 11-18, 2009.  We all had a perfect holiday!  None of us had ever been to Disneyworld before, so it was really exciting to have the opportunity to make the trip!  An organization in Florida called Give Kids The World put us up in one of their Villas in the Give Kids The World Village in Kissimmee, Florida.

This is truly a magical place for all ages!  The Village is a small gated community with pools, a theatre, playhouse, castle, playground, barn, restaurants, and an ice cream parlour that was open from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.  We were provided with our own 2 bedroom villa as well as tickets to Disneyworld, Universal Orlando and Seaworld. The weather was perfect and we managed to take in all the theme parks in the 6 days we were there with the help of special front of the line passes.  We wouldn't have been able to see half of what we saw if it weren't for these passes!  It was a wonderful trip of a lifetime, one that we will always cherish.

We would like to thank Westman Dreams for Kids for providing us with this magical holiday.  We would also like to thank Give Kids The World for the accommodations and tickets.  This is truly a special organization that provides week long vacations to kids with life-threatening conditions from all over the world.

I want to thank you so much for the wonderful opportunity of traveling to Disneyworld with my family.  The trip was definitely a once in a life time experience and I cannot thank you enough.  When we were in Disney we were treated like royalty and it was amazing to just feel so special.  When I was in Orlando I felt like I didn’t have to worry about my sore stomach or doctors; I just got to be normal for the week I was there.  I really can’t put into words how much it means to me and my family. I really enjoyed the whole trip but there were parts that stand out more than others.  Seeing and getting pictures with all of the Disney Characters was really cool and going on all of the big, scary roller coasters and rides was outstanding!

But overall my absolute favorite part was spending an entire week with my family.  Going through such a busy year with countless doctor appointments, hospital stays, sick days and tests at the hospital my family didn’t get to spend as much time together as we have in the past, so being together again and not having to worry about nay of those things was fantastic.  I know that we all really enjoyed ourselves.

Give Kids the World Village and Westman Dreams for Kids are both such wonderful organizations.  Seeing what amazing things people like all of you do for families is extremely uplifting.  Being at the Village, made us all realize that we weren’t the only family going through such tough times.  Seeing so many families in the same boat as mine was hard because I realized how many people struggle each day with medical issues but on the other hand it was nice to know that we’re not alone.

Again, thanks for such a wonderful experience.  You really don’t know how much it means to us.

The Nichols' family can't thank Westman Dreams for Kids enough for helping Andrew's wish come true. Words can not describe what a awesome opportunity this is! Since recovering from Leukemia Andrew has worked very hard to catch up with his hockey skills, endurance and size. Being able to attend the Pursuit of Excellence and Christian School in Kelowna it will not only help Andrew grow as a person but enable him to have some of the finest hockey training. Although it will be difficult for our family to have him go we are thrilled for him to be able to pursue his dream.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
Frank, Joanne, Katherine, Amie, Cailey and Andrew Nichols
