We send out special thanks for kind donations made to our foundation over the Christmas season. We also received a donation from Blair Robertson on behalf of Lyons Transmission. Each year this company collects & sell their scrap metal. The employees then choose the charity of their choice for the monies derived from this sale. We thank all the staff for choosing Westman Dreams for Kids.
Westman Dreams for Kids had the privilege of meeting an industrious group of students from Brandon University whose roots are in Nigeria. These young men formed a DJ group called "Team Blackout", offering their musical knowledge along with plenty of on stage entertainment from all the guys! To honor Nigeria's 50th Independance Day Celebration, a social was held at Suds, B. of U. on October 14th with "Team Blackout" hosting & the proceeds being designated to our foundation. Pictured above are the members of this group presenting their donation to our foundation. Thanks from us all! Happy 50th anniversary to Ralph & Bev Carvey! And thanks for the kindness of your donations received on your special day, October 16. The Carveys celebrated their day with friends & family at Senior for Seniors & we thank you all for your generosity! Warm autumn weather enabled Meyers Norris & Penny to once again host their Charity Street Hockey Classic & our foundation was honored to be the recipient. The victorious team was the Royal LePage Rebels! Scott Major & Glen Tosh of Royal LePage proudly presented a generous cheque to Karen Gislason, Office Administrator of Westman Dreams for Kids. Congratulations and thank you to these "Rebels".....Julie Hominick, Neal Buchannan, Brenda Buchannan, Jeremy Champagne, Scott Major, Zach Munn, Glen Tosh, Cam Plante, Glen Kirkland and Melissa Wood!! Congratulations to Ed & Linda Evans of Brandon on 50 years of marriage. A special evening in their honor was held at the Riverview Curling Club in September & in leu of gifts, Ed & Linda chose to have donations made to our foundation. Thanks to this thoughtful couple & all their guests from us all! And, once again we were the recipients of generous sponsors through sports! Sandy Lake was the venue for the RCMP hosted golf tournament in August with proceeds being kindly donated to the children in the Westman area. Many thanks to the organizers and golfers from us all at Westman Dreams for Kids! Congratulations to the Midwest Allstars Provincial AAA Pee Wee Baseball Champions! These young players proudly represented Manitoba in Nanaimo BC at the Western Canadian Championships in August. The team decided to raise money to help make a dream come true for another child in the Westman area by seeking pledges for their endeavors on the field in Nanaimo. This gesture of kindness by a group of talented young athletes made them Champions both on & off the field! Thank you boys from us all at Westman Dreams for Kids. Our foundation was once again the recipient of the generosity from the Miniota Golf Club as they hosted their annual Golf tournament in June. The two day tournament offered great golf, great food, prizes & an auction where the proceeds were dedicated to Westman Dreams for Kids. Thanks to all the committee for their dedication to our mission & thanks once again to all the golfers for their generosity! Thank you to Boissevain United Church and it's Sunday School group under the tutelage of Patty White for their generous donation. This industrious group of young citizens worked at many projects in their fundraising efforts & were able to donate $800.00 for their endeavors. The picture below shows their enthusiam and spirit along with their mandate poster......... "Hearts and Hands make Dreams come true!" Congratulations to this wonderful Sunday School group and to the teachers who inspired them!
The graduates of the 39th Manitoba Emergency Services College Public Fire Paramedic Program made a generous donation from funds derived from their barbecues and car washes! Krave Hair Salon and Photography by Dale for funds raised through their "Fairy" Portrait Sessions. Modesty Hair Salon from their wonderful "Fashion in the City" evening. The students of Vincent Massey's Leadership Program. Students of Riverheights School for their fundraising efforts dedicated to WDFK. Eleanor Norton and her crew of "The Shrink-a-thon" for their donation of funds through their healthy living weight loss program. Giving Back! On Saturday, May 8, Pantages on Park Hair Salon celebrated their 25th anniversary in the industry. A barbeque, live band & hair cuts were on the agenda & the good gals at Pantages took pledges & donated all funds from the day to Westman Dreams for Kids.
Thank you to the gals at Lady of the Lake & Judy at New Beginnings Intimate Apparel for their generous donation made to our foundation after their successful Fashion Show in March, 2011. This fundraising event raised $249.65! In early 2007 Wal-Mart held its Wish Cloud campaign and raised $2,066.00 for Westman Dreams for Kids. Michael Humenny, store manager for Brandon Wal-Mart presented the cheque to Jeff Thompson, Westman Dreams for Kids board of director's president on November 30th. Westman Dreams for Kids would like to thank the staff at Wal-Mart and all the customers who participated in this campaign. Westman Dreams for Kids would like to thank the staff at Patmore Nursery and all the ghosts and goblins who toured the Haunted House this Halloween. Donations totaling $331.00 were presented to Westman Dreams for Kids on Thursday November 1st.
This was the first year that the staff at Patmore Nursery held the Haunted House which was geared toward children up to age 9.
At the Brandon Wheat Kings game on January 13th Westman Dreams for Kids board president Willlie Chapin accepted a cheque for $19,000.00 from
Terry Carels and Ian Murray from the Marty Murray Golf Tournament. We would like to express a "SPECIAL THANK YOU" to all those involved in making this tournament such a huge success. A very "SPECIAL THANK YOU" goes out to the Yaskiw and family and their friends from Birtle for raising $810.00 for Westman Dreams for Kids at their annual Grey Cup party. We would like to say a "SPECIAL THANK YOU" to Diamond and Dirt and Scott and Bev Bullee for hosting a concert and raising over $800.00 for Dreams for Kids in memory of Alison Fowell and Ryan Roy. A "SPECIAL THANK YOU" goes out to Trudy Murray and her family and friends from the Melita area for raising $290.00 for Dreams for Kids at their annual Memorial Ride in memory of Stephen Campbell. We would like to say a "SPECIAL THANK YOU" to Fowler Pontiac for donating the proceed of their Grand Opening BBQ to Dreams for Kids. Just over $800.00 was raised that day. A very "SPECIAL THANK YOU" goes out to the staff at Koch Fertilizer. $2,600.00 was raised from the sale of Simplot merchandise. Shauna Wiebe from Koch Fertilizer presented the cheque to board president Willie Chapin at the Dreams for Kids office. In July the Manitoba Nurses Union donated the funds from an auction held at their annual meeting in Winnipeg. Prizes were donated from businesses in the Westman area. A "SPECIAL THANK YOU" goes out to everyone involved. A donation was made in the amount of $5,035.00 We would like to send a "SPECIAL THANK YOU" to Tanner Johnson, age 10, and all his family and friends for their excellent work in organizing the first ever "MILLENIUM YU-GU-OH TOURNAMENT" and raising $230.00 for Dreams For Kids.

Mazer, President of the R.G. Mazer Group, and Dale MacKenzie, Tournament Chairman,
present a $3500 cheque to Al Rosendaal of Westman Dreams for Kids. On July 12th Mazer Implements held its 5th Annual Farmer Golf Tournament at the Shilo Golf and Country Club. 136 golfers showed up to play a round and to enjoy Bob Mazer's cooking as he prepared buffalo burgers and pork on a bun. Through generous donations made by Mazer Implements and its customers, the tournament raised $3500 for Westman Dreams for Kids. Tournament Chairman Dale MacKenzie felt that the event was a great success, "The day was perfect and we are very proud of the Mazer Implements customers who have shown their support for those who are less fortunate. In over five years the tournament has raised over $12,000 for local charities. This tournament is a chance for the staff and customers of Mazer Implements to gather away from work in support of a great cause. On behalf of Mazer Implements, I would like to thank our customers and vendors for their generosity." We would like to send out a " SPECIAL THANK YOU"
to Ron Ryan of Advance Autobody. In March 2002, Miss Wrobleski's Grade Four Class of Betty
Gibson School held a fundraiser. Parents and students of the class made dozens
and dozens of cookies. Then they had a cookie sale at school for 25 cents a
cookie. Students and teachers bought over 300 cookies that day! All the money
raised was donated to Westman Dreams For Kids to help grant dreams to seriously
sick children in the Westman Area. What a great idea to help raise money! A
big thank you to all the little bakers (and eaters) at Betty Gibson School from
Westman Dreams For Kids! A special thank-you goes to Mrs. Dillers Grade One class from Kirkcaldy Heights from Westman Dreams For Kids. The class went for a walk on January 8, 2002 to enjoy the beautiful weather. They had a lot of fun sliding down hills and following deer tracks. During their walk they found a ten dollar bill by the path. The class decided to give it to Westman Dreams For Kids 'to help make a sick kid's dream come true'. We would like to thank them for their thoughtful generosity and support. It's never too early for children to share with other children. WHat a great lesson learned on that walk! to the first annual Flying Poker Derby and Barbeque held November 3,
2001. There were nine participating Flying Clubs: Brandon, Souris, Hartney,
Deloraine, Virden, Shoal Lake, Russell, Dauphin, and Erickson. The second annual Flying Poker Derby was held July 21, 2002 by the Flying Clubs of Westman and included the support from the local flying clubs of Souris, Hartney, Deloraine, Virden, Shoal Lake, Erickson, Russel, and Brandon. They raised $1115 and donated it to Westman Dreams For Kids once again this year. Thank you for your continued support! We would like to send out a " SPECIAL THANK YOU" to all of our supporters who help make Dreams for local kids come true. With your help, Westman Dreams For Kids is making The World A Better Place. We would like to share just a few of the ideas that you have come up with to raise the funds needed to make Dreams Come True. The Dodger's Ball Club of Brandon donated proceeds from their
ball tournament held the third weekend of every September in memory of Danny
Lang.
